Ronal-downed: Footballer’s private plane crashes in Barcelona

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S private jet crashed while landing at Barcelona’s El Prat airport on Monday, September 26, after the landing gear snapped on impact with the runway.

The incident caused one of the airport’s runways to be closed and the pilot was treated for minor injuries, but no-one was seriously hurt.

Ronaldo purchased the Gulfstream G200 aircraft for around €19 million in 2015, but he will now have to fork out a hefty repair bill.

The 31-year-old Real Madrid star was not on board since he was in Germany preparing for his team’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The jet is able to accommodate eight passengers and two crew members, and can reach a top speed of 900 km/h.
