THE world stood still as the constant drip of updates to Kim Kardashian’s countless social media accounts went quiet after the reality television star was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room.
Speculation continues as to the exact circumstances of the brazen heist. Between two and five men armed with handguns and dressed as French police officers are believed to have entered the 35-year-old’s room, tied up her bodyguard, and made off with roughly €4 million worth of jewellery.
A hotel spokeswoman described Kardashian, who boasts tens of millions of obsessed followers on Instagram and Twitter, was left ‘shaken but unharmed’. like a Montecarlo martini.
Paris police told AFP that the loss amounted to “several million euros, mostly jewellery”. They said they were still assessing the total amount stolen and had opened an investigation.
Kardashian was attending the Givenchy fashion show alongside sisters Kourtney and Kendall, and mother Kris.
Together with her ex step-father, transsexual former athlete Caitlin Jenner, and husband Kanye West, the extended family have represented the zeitgeist of American celebrity culture for nigh on a decade.
