Saying ‘thank you’ to the Local Police

MOVING CELEBRATION: Javea’s Local Police commemorate Guardian Angels day.

JAVEA expressed its gratitude towards the Local Police on the feast day of the Guardian Angels, their patrons.

This year the celebrations were particularly moving as it was less than a month since forest fires devastated Granadella and affected dozens of homes.

“I know that I convey the feelings of everyone in the town in thanking you for the effort, generosity, self-sacrifice, bravery, hours without sleep, patience and willingness to serve that you demonstrated recently,” said Javea’s mayor Jose Chulvi.

The Local Police carried out daily duties that are not always visible, or understood, Chulvi said.“Nevertheless, these are the basis of our social harmony and successful community project,” he added.

Jose Antonio Monfort, superintendent of Javea’s Local Police, also thanked the volunteers who helped fight last month’s fires and assisted those who had to leave their homes.

There were particular thanks for the Loreto fiestas committee and the solidarity they had shown from the first moment of the tragedy, Monfort said as he presented the committee president Juanjo Garcia with a commemorative plaque.
