Four people died when the balcony collapsed during a student party.
Four people, thought to be students, have died and at least 14 others were injured when a third-floor balcony collapsed in the city of Angers in western France.
The building had been newly constructed when the balcony gave way and fell into the street below, according to authorities in the Maine-et-Loire region.
It is thought the students were at a housewarming party on Saturday night.
A spokesman for the regional hospital said ten people were brought in by the emergency services and were then admitted. One of them is said to be in a serious condition.
Another four were given treatment before being allowed to return home.
