Cabinet reshuffle announced in Gibraltar

Fabian Picardo and Richard Garcia announcing the changes.

IN ACCORDANCE with a previous announcement following the last election, the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo after consulting with the Governor of Gibraltar has announced on October 20, a number of changes of portfolios for his government together with the creation of new roles and the merging of some ministries.

Whilst all of these changes are important for the people of Gibraltar, possibly the most challenging role has been given to Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia who has been appointed as Minister for Brexit as well as Europe.

Whilst the government is disappointed that it needs to create such a role and still hopes that there will be a number of viable alternatives, it recognises that it would be unwise not to formally prepare for an eventual exit from the European Union.
