CERVANTES’ MASTERPIECE: Aiming to improve intercultural relations.
ITALIAN and Turkish teenagers have been visiting Purchena this month as part of an ‘Erasmus+ project, Cervantes 2016: Reading and European Citizenship.’
Altogether 37 youngsters aged between 14 and 18 years from the Entresierras Secondary School in Purchena, the Liceo Ginnasio Aristosseno in Taranto, Italy, and the Genç Osman Anadolu Lisesi in Ankara, Turkey, are taking part in the project.
The aim, said Ramon Soto, a coordinator of the Andalucian Youth Institute, was to improve intercultural relations and gain a better understanding of what European citizenship consists of by working on activities related to Miguel de Cervantes’ 1605 masterpiece, whose full English title is ‘The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.’
