French assassin dressed as Satan nabbed at Malaga party

A HITMAN on the run from French authorities was arrested by Costa del Sol police while dressed as the devil at a Halloween party.

Hamid Hakkar was on France’s most-wanted list accused of murder, money laundering and drug trafficking.

The 47-year-old of Algerian descent was serving a 15-year sentence for the  execution of a drug dealer when he escaped while on temporary leave in 2013.

He has a wild criminal history having also escaped a Parisian prison in 1998 by switching himself with a visitor, and helping an Italian bank robber escape from another jail in 2013 in an audacious scheme that drew comparisons with Hollywood film Oceans 11.

In October Spanish police discovered two guns, ammunition, fake Ids, thousands of euros and a silencer at a Malaga apartment and launched a manhunt for the suspect.

On Friday November 4 they cornered Hakkar at a Halloween party outside the Muello Uno shopping centre in the Costa del Sol city. He was nabbed trying desperately to hide among the crowd but police had already circulated a photo of the red mask with sharp teeth Hakkar was thought to be wearing.

Two Spanish men were also arrested on suspicion of sheltering the fugitive, who cheekily went by the name ‘Julio’ during his time in the country.
