Algarrobico hotel.
THE Odyssey-like story of the Algarrobico hotel continues as the constructors failed to turn up for the meeting on Friday (October 4) at which the Environmental Department was due to recover ownership of the land on which it stands in Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park.
The department reported on Friday that it would be asking the Andalucian High Court to execute the sentence issued in February approving repossession of the land by the authorities for a price of €2.3 million.
Azata del Sol construction company manager Jose Rodriguez said the hotel owners, Azata del Sol and AzataPatrimonio, had decided not to attend the meeting for voluntary following of the high court sentence as they did not agree with it.
Construction of the hotel, which began in 2003 with the approval of Carboneras Council and the Junta de Andalucia regional government, was halted on February 21, 2006, on the orders of an Almeria judge.
