PARTICIPATING ESTABLISHMENTS: Help more than 200 children with their donations.
THE No Child Without a Toy campaign has once again made its way to Almuñécar and La Herradura. This fundraising endeavour has become a mainstay in the town since it was first launched 20 years ago, and aims to ensure that even children with limited resources will have something to play with over the Christmas period.
The campaign has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of Caritas Charity and the Almuñécar Council. Local businesses and establishments have purchased packages of 10,000 ballots, which will be handed out to customers between December 5 and January 4 as they do their Christmas shopping. The ballots will then go into a lottery, and the winners will be treated to assorted prizes.
The campaign thus has two objectives: to stimulate the economy by encouraging shoppers to support local businesses, and to help out more than 200 children using the donations from the participating establishments. This year more than €6,000 was raised.
There will also be a party for children of all ages in the Plaza de la Constitucion on January 3 and 4 at 5pm.
