TRAGEDY: The victim plummeted nine floors.
A YOUNG British tourist has died after plummeting from the ninth floor of a Benidorm hotel in the early hours of Sunday November 13.
Authorities have named the woman as Danielle Hall. The 21-year-old Newcastle resident had recently arrived in Benidorm and was intending to partake in the town’s annual festival.
Reports have indicated that Hall was under the influence of alcohol and that she had been drinking heavily with her boyfriend. She apparently moved to answer the door when a relative came to the room but lost her balance in the process and plunged over the balcony railing. Medical workers have indicated that the impact from the fall killed her almost instantly.
Sources have stated that both the hotel employees and the guests have been profoundly affected by the tragedy, with one hotel worker apparently feeling guilty for assigning the visitors to the ninth floor. Another tourist reportedly saw the young woman’s body pass by her window and has been unable to sleep since.
Police have spoken to assorted witnesses, and although they have declined to release much information at the moment, a spokesperson has indicated that foul play is not suspected.
