Spanish skies on the horizon for cyclists

TEAM SKY: Will compete in Mallorca’s 26th Cycling Challenge.

BRITAIN’S Team Sky has indicated they will compete in Mallorca’s 26th Cycling Challenge, one of the first European races of the season. The race will be held at the end of January.

At the moment, it is unclear which cyclists will make up the team in Mallorca. However, it has been announced that Mikel Landa will lead the squad in the 2017 Giro d’Italia so that Chris Froome can focus all of his energies on the Tour de France. Froome is a three-time winner of the prestigious French race.

The team’s chances are looking good for the Tour de France, as Sky has completely dominated the event over the last few years, although they have not been as successful in Italy.

First however, it will be over to Mallorca for their usual winter training camp, which will unfold over the course of December and January.

This will be a reunion of sorts, as it will be the first time the team has been together since last season drew to a close. Froome will probably not race in the Cycling Challenge in January, but will participate in the training camp.
