Rafael Nadal left out of Spain’s Davis Cup tennis squad

FATIGUE has ruled Rafael Nadal out of Spain’s Davis Cup squad for their World Group first round match against Croatia in Osijek from February 3 – 5.

Nadal, the world number six, lost in five sets to Roger Federer in the final of the Australian Open at the weekend.

Squad captain Conchita Martinez said, “He needs time to recover from his efforts and I’m certain that he will accompany us in the next rounds.”

“Rafa’s wear and tear in the last month has been very significant.”
