Customs officers seize 12 cases of cigarettes at sea

WHILST undertaking a routine patrol in local Gibraltar waters on February 1, officers of the Customs Marine Section spotted a rigid-hulled inflatable boat close to the western end of the runway and intercepted the craft.

Two Spaniards aged 24 and 33 were arrested on board and the vessel and the 12 cases of cigarettes were seized.

The two men have been released on bail to appear before the Magistrates Court at a later date.
