HAVING been alerted to a fire in a building in the Valencian town of Mislata, two officers of the National Police rescued an 89-year-old woman who was in considerable danger of being burnt alive.
Whilst about to enter the building which had flames shooting out of some windows they were advised that an elderly woman lived there and were given a key to her door.
Whilst other officers evacuated the building, they heard a woman calling for help and found her in great distress in a room which was alight. They used a blanket to cover her and extinguish her burning clothes and then carried her to safety where she was then taken to hospital.
The area outside of the building was quickly cordoned off for fear of exploding window panes and the fire brigade attended.
