GUARDIA CIVIL agents in Gran Canaria have arrested a flight steward who was found with €39,000 worth of cash allegedly stolen from a flight company’s safe.
The 20-year-old was arrested at Gran Canaria Airport after a security scanner flagged the man’s suitcase as suspicious.
When police discovered the money, the suspect was unable to explain where it originated from, and later confessed that he had stolen it.
It is believed the suspect stole the cash from a safe inside the airport, using his flight steward security clearance and keys, hours before he was set to board a flight to Sevilla.
The money was in various currencies including pounds sterling, euros and Swedish and Norwegian crowns.
