A FOUR-YEAR-OLD female dolphin has been rescued by biologists after becoming stranded on Torrox’s El Morche beach.
Local residents alerted the Guardia Civil to the distressed animal. Scientists from the Aula del Mar de Malaga, a marine biology museum, were then contacted. Following its rescue, the animal was checked over and found to have parasites in its tail and a wound to its jaw.
The dolphin is now being treated at the Marine Species Recovery Centre in Malaga. Juan Jesus Martin, director of Aula del Mar, said the animal was in “a delicate state of health” but that he was optimistic it would recover.
