Wheels instead of blades

FOUR-TIME two-man bob world champion from Germany Francesco Friedrich, reigning four-man bob champion Latvian Oskars Melbardis and American Olympic winner Steven Holcomb took part in a special downhill event.

The champion bobsleighers enjoyed the breath-taking views over the areas around Berchtesgaden and Salzburg from a height of 1,600 metres as they headed down the curves of the famous Rossfeldstraße behind the wheel of powerful BMW models.

Friedrich, having claimed the world championship title in the two-man bob event, with compatriot Thorsten Margis, for the third time in a row mastered the challenging descent at the wheel of the 370 HP BMW M2 Coupé whilst German pair Johannes Lochner and his brakeman Joshua Bluhm conquered the mountain in the BMW M3.

Like Friedrich, reigning four-man bob world champion Melbardis took his world championship trophy here. Holcomb, the Canadian duo of Justin Kripps and Jesse Lumsden, Nico Walther and skeleton ladies Tina Hermann and Jacqueline Lölling also of Germany showed their driving talents during this special training event.
