New Code of Conduct for teachers in Gibraltar

HM Government of Gibraltar

Announcing the new Code of Conduct

AWARE that unlike the UK, which has had one for 20 years, no formal Code of Conduct for teachers existed in Gibraltar, the government decided that it would be appropriate to introduce such a document.

The code aims to set out what is expected of teachers in their professional role and is designed to give guidance to teachers in their professional judgment and practice as well as helping with professional and ethical issues.

By setting out the Department’s preferred set of ethical values, it will give advice on professional relationships and encourage teachers to aspire to values of honesty and integrity as well as giving direction regarding the use of social media and providing a clear explanation of the disciplinary and grievance procedures for teachers.
