TWO men are believed to have died after having a drinking competition in Palencia.
The bodies of the pair, both aged 39, were found in the early hours of Sunday morning (26 February) by friends who alerted the authorities, there were no signs of violence.
Government spokesperson Luis Miguel Carcel told the Europa Press “everything pointed to alcohol poisoning” as the cause of death.
“It appears that they were having a competition to see who could drink the most,” he said.
The mayor of Villaluenga de la Vega, Raul Berzosa, said the Rumanian men were “completely integrated” in the community and it was a tragic loss.
