A 57-YEAR-OLD step-father who allegedly sexually assaulted his partner’s underage daughter has been identified by a photograph showing the back of his hands.
The girl had allegedly been drugged with powerful sedatives and sleeping tablets, before being abused by her step-father. Due to the medication she had been given, the girl only had a small recollection of the abuse and had not told anyone.
Her mother called in police, however, after finding photographs of her daughter naked and asleep, while cleaning the house. The photographs captured the backs of the hands of the photographer.
Investigators then decided to interview the girl’s step-father, who was in prison in Jaen for other crimes, and photographed his hands.
Criminologists were then able to positively identify that the hands shown in the photos were his by their interphalangeal joints; the first time a crime has been solved in this way.
As the man is already in prison, the prosecution has denounced him as a suspect and are not seeking jail time.
