King Felipe and Princess Cristina attend the same Madrid function

FOR the first time since November 2015, King Felipe and his sister Princess Cristina were seen in the same room following a relative’s death.

All senior members of the Spanish Royal Family attended a memorial service for the Infanta Alicia de Borbon-Parma, Duchess of Calabria who was the aunt of former king Juan Carlos and the great-aunt of his son and daughters.

The ceremony for the oldest member of the family, who was 99, was held at the chapel of the Royal Palace and Princess Cristina sitting with her sister and aunts in the front row of mourners was not pictured in conversation with her brother.

The bad publicity surrounding the Noos case in which the Princess’s husband was found guilty of fraud and tax evasion and she was charged but found not guilty has reportedly caused friction within the family and led to her having her title Duchess of Palma as well as all duties connected with the royal household removed .

After the ceremony, the royal mourners paid their respects to the family of the late Infanta but it is not recorded whether the King formally acknowledged the presence of his sister.
