State-of-the-art dog park for Mijas given green light

DOG PARK: Happy councilors at future dog space in Las Lagunas

A HUGE investment of €360,000 will be made to create a brand new dog park in Las Lagunas, Mijas.

The new space is at Cortijo don Elias and work is expected to be finished in as little as three months.

The dedicated dog space will be similar to a park already proving popular in La Cala. The Las Lagunas park will even have a special, separate area for small dogs to play in relative, if noisy, peace.

Parks and gardens councilor Roy Perez has visited the new site and says it will feature innovative furniture built especially for dogs.

It will have playful obstacles, including a seesaw, jumping fences, a ramp, and rings. It may one day be used to hold beauty pageants and competitions.

The mayor of Infrastructures, Jose Carlos Martín (Cs) and the Councilor of Parks and Gardens, Roy Perez (PSOE) have visited this morning the area where the new space will be located which will feature a new area for small dogs

It is based on a spacious 3,000 square metre plot which will also contain separate toilet areas and a water supply. Metal gates and fences will keep animals from escaping and there will be decent lighting for evening strolls.

I think this is an absolutely fabulous idea. There has never been many areas where dogs can run free without being worried about traffic and to have a proper play area with fun equipment is fantastic.
