People still inside the cathedral holding their hands up
A MAN has been shot by police outside the Cathedral of Notre Dame Paris after attempting to attack officers with a hammer, police say.
The suspect has been wounded according to reports and officials say this is a “terrorist incident”
The area around the cathedral has been closed as eyewitnesses said tourists fled for cover.
Some 900 people were still inside the cathedral at the time of writing.
One witness told news outlets the situation was “very quickly contained.”
