THE Junta de Andalucia has given the go-ahead for the opening of two dog beaches along the coast of Marbella this summer.
Miguel Diaz, Councillor for Sustainability of Marbella, has said that the “increasing demand for dog zones over the last couple of years” has led to their decision to create the special sandy strips.
Diaz stressed that the canine-friendly areas have been commissioned in zones less favoured by beach-goers, as a means to ensure that “the dog zones do not interfere with bathers seeking to relax in the sun.”
Owners must ensure their pets remain under control at all times, have up to date vaccinations and that their waste is disposed of correctly.
The dog-friendly beaches will open in the El Pinillo area in Marbella and the Ventura del Mar in Nueva Andalucia.
Additionally, the council have announced plans to install access ramps along the coast to provide accessibility for the elderly and disabled.
