UPDATE: Amidst the confusion, the Civil Protection of Portugal has denounced claims that fire service air support had crashed. The chaos arose after reporters heard an explosion which came from a nearby caravan.
A PLANE fighting wildfires in Portugal has crashed according to officials.
The Canadair aircraft went down in the Pedrogao Grande area.
There is as of yet no information on casualties.
