British child abuser caught in Antequera

THE NATIONAL POLICE have arrested a 69-year-old British man in Antequera for the sexual assault of a minor in Britain.

In the late nineties, he was looking after the victim for a family friend. After waking up in the middle of the night he went to her room and violated her.

The fugitive, who failed to attend court, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Sheffield Crown Court last November for sexually assaulting the child. Upon fleeing to Spain, British authorities requested a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) to bring him back to face justice.

The detainee has been handed over to the Antequera Court, where he will await extradition to the United Kingdom.
