AN 80-YEAR-OLD British man has been arrested in Gran Canaria for allegedly beating his 47-year-old ex-wife to death.
The court has ordered that the former British wrestler, Jim Breaks, be imprisoned without bail after he allegedly killed partner Donna Cowley by punching her several times.
The pair, an on and off couple for 20 years, lived in a flat on Avenida Cornice in Mogan. Emergency services were called when a neighbour heard screams from the residence.
When police arrived they found the victim lying in a pool of her own blood and rushed her to hospital.
Cowley died at an island hospital later the same day.
According the Guardia Civil, Breaks will be charged with undermining authority after “actively resisting” his arrest.
Investigators are waiting on the results of Cowley’s post-mortem to ascertain whether her death was caused by the assault or existing health problems.
