BARCELONA FC has announced that it has come to an agreement with Lionel Messi for him to remain at the club until at least 2020.
Whilst rival Ronaldo has indicated that his brush with the Spanish Tax Authorities have left him thinking that he would like to move back to the UK, Messi who has had his own serious problems in court appears happy to remain.
According to the club that he has been with since he was 13, the player they describe as the best in history will put pen to paper when he returns to Spain from honeymoon in Antigua in mid-July.
The new contract guarantees his place at the club until 2020 with a possible extension if both parties agree for a further year.
Although no details of the value of the contract have been released, it is reported that release clause in the contract is €300 million.
