THE body of a woman in her 50s has been found mummified in her flat in Galicia.
Police on Monday opened the first investigation into the woman´s death four years after she is believed to have passed away.
Neighbours reported the woman´s situation after realising that no one had been collecting her mail and her car had been parked in the same spot for years gathering dirt.
Upon entering the flat officers found the woman´s body lying face down on the floor. There were no signs of a struggle and she is believed to have died of natural causes.
The fact that neighbour did not report strong smell in the weeks following her death is because the body dried out naturally.
According to police statements the woman had no immediate family and the electricity had been cut from her flat following years of defaulted bill payments.
