A LORRY flew off a bridge into the sea in Cadiz after avoiding a pile up.
The driver veered to the right to avoid smashing into two vehicles which had already crashed, but was unable to regain control of his vehicle and was sent over the edge of the Jose Leon de Carranza Bridge.
He was then saved from drowning thanks to the quick and decisive actions of an off-duty police officer.
Miguel Angel Comesaña saw the man in the water and knew he “had to act quickly.”
He drove to the port where he asked to borrow an inflatable dinghy and he and two others rowed to scene to rescue the man.
The dramatic scene was captured on CCTV by the Spanish traffic department (DGT), with witnesses describing it as “something straight out of a movie.”
