LA CALA: Site is municipal property once more
VILLAJOYOSA town hall has finally recovered 1,400 square metres of prime seafront land with uninterrupted sea views in La Cala.
The plot of land was until now surrounded by hoardings and contained a shed as well as an industrial unit used to store building materials.
These belonged to a subcontracted construction company which was working on the Atrium hotel complex that was halted on legal grounds in 2003.
The company ignored repeated requests by a succession of councils to vacate and clear the plot of land until the current town hall called in another firm to clear the site and leave it ready for use. The cost will be passed onto the company that formerly occupied the site.
La Vila’s Technical Services councillor Pascal Amigo, accompanied by the municipal architect and the architect who supervised dismantling the unit and clearing the land.
This has now been fenced off and will be destined for public use by Villajoyosa town hall.
