Benalmadena Hospital
A YOUNG MAN has been sentenced to nine months in prison after assaulting a doctor at a Benalmadena hospital.
According to the police, the accused rang emergency services and asked for an ambulance after he had consumed several litres of beer. The operator told him that they were unable to carry out his request as his drunk condition did not constitute an emergency.
Hours later, the man turned up at the High Resolution and was seen to by a nurse. He then became violent, ripping a fire extinguisher off the wall and spraying a passing female doctor in the eyes.
The doctor pressed the panic button and fled while the aggressor sprayed patients in the vicinity before being held by security guards.
The doctor and a patient were treated for injuries to their face and eyes.
In addition to his prison sentence, the aggressor will have to pay €250 in compensation to the victims, and a €300 fine to the courts.
