Spanish health board confirms contaminated eggs are not in Spain

SPAIN’S health board (Aecosan) has confirmed that there are no contaminated eggs in circulation in Spain.

The announcement comes after the European Food Alert System (Rasff) detected traces of a banned pesticide, fipronil, in eggs from the Netherlands.

Fipronil can harm people’s kidneys, liver and thyroid glands, and has been found in batches in the UK, Germany and France and other EU countries.
