A flooded street in Denia
STRONG winds, heavy rain and lightning lashed the Marina Alta area, which toppled a fairground attraction, flooded streets and devoured beaches.
Fortunately no-one was harmed when the ‘Circus’ ride toppled over at around 11.30pm last night (August 9).

Several beaches have also been closed to swimmers including the Calalga, Borumbot y Arenal in Calpe with waves predicted to reach almost two metres in height. Part of Les Deveses beach has also been washed away as waves battered the Denia coast.

An estimated 160 litres per square metre fell in Javea in just a few hours and 130 in Denia.
The heavy rainfall destroyed some residents walls in Javea.
