WILDFIRE: Near Zagaleta in the municipality of Benahavis
EMERGENCY services are working to control two wildfires near Benahavis and Mijas on the Costa del Sol.
Eleven aircraft are at the scene of the first fire in the Zagaleta area in the municipality of Benahavis with 48 ground firefighters working on the steeply slopping mountainside.
The A-397 from San Pedro to Ronda has been closed in both directions at km 35 to facilitate the firefighting work. An alternative diversion route has been put in place.
According to INFOCA, the body responsible for tackling forest fires, more than 30 firefighters and eight aircraft are battling to contain the flames in a second wildfire at Mijas on the Costa del Sol.
