ROTTERDAM MAYOR: Said a small van with Spanish registration plates and ‘gas bottles’ inside was found near the venue
A TERROR warning from Spanish police has led to the cancellation of a rock concert in Rotterdam tonight according to the city’s mayor.
The mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb said a small van with Spanish registration plates and ‘gas bottles’ inside was found near the venue and the driver was arrested and is being questioned.
He added that it wasn’t clear whether the terror threat at the rock concert and the van were connected.
The American rock band Allah-Las band were due to play tonight at the Maassilo concert venue, a former grain silo.
But the venue has released a statement saying they had been advised by the authorities to cancel the show and the venue has been evacuated.
A statement released by the Rotown said: “On the advice of police, we have been forced to cancel the concert of Allah-Las at the venue.
“There’s no point coming. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
An update added: “This is a terrorist threat and the venue is being evacuated.
Update: het gaat om een terreurdreiging, de Maassilo wordt momenteel ontruimd. Kaarthouders zullen uiteraard hun geld terug krijgen. — Rotown (@rotownrotterdam) August 23, 2017
