A HUGE 700 kilo, two-metre long turtle was found washed up on a beach near Barcelona.
The massive beast, believed to a leatherback turtle, was in an advanced stage of decomposition when it washed up a beach in Calella.
The presence of this species is not common in the Mediterranean although it is the second time in a month that a similar specimen has been found.
A digger was called in to move the turtle so that scientists could perform an autopsy at the veterinary department at the University of Barclona.
