Marbella’s kids: Meditating the future

WE often hear that ‘life is what you make of it’ and ‘where there’s a will there’s a way.’

However for many we don’t really know what our ‘will’ is so it can be quite a challenge to find our way, let alone make the most of it.

According to Swami Jyothirmayah there is a very simple and easy solution, for all of us.

Our first moment in this world starts off with a breath of air ‘in’ and our last moment finishes with the last breath ‘out’; life is everything else in between.

Each one of us is allocated a precious and finite amount of time, which can be ‘spent’ anyway we wish. Too many of us however spend most of our time just trying to get through the day; getting the kids off to school, getting ourselves off to work, doing the laundry, shopping, paying bills and then falling into bed exhausted just to get up the next day and start all over again.

We worry, a lot.

Many are always in a state of heightened fear of what may or may not happen tomorrow, or the next day; planning and fretting over the future without a thought for the present moment, the life we’re actually living now.

All this can change for the better, apparently without effort, if we just remember to breathe and be aware of that breath of life.

By mastering the simple art of breathing our lives and everything in it can flow as naturally and as effortlessly. This is the message that the international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organisation, the Art of Living wants to share via its educational and self-development programmes, offering powerful tools to eliminate stress and foster this sense of well-being.

Last Saturday evening Marbella welcomed Swami Jyothirmayah to the Exhibition Centre to address our community as part of this incentive to ‘heal’ the world.

Our younger community members also had a chance to meet the Swami thanks to the hospitality and open-minded nature of the Laude International School in San Pedro.

Remedios Lopez, director of the school, firmly believes that our children are more than just academics and books and appreciates the importance of our future generations understanding the basic concepts of life.

It turned out to be a very special moment for us all. The Swami’s message couldn’t have been clearer.

Stop living in the past or the future, live in the now. Understand that, again as they say, “there is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

Follow your heart, your intuition and don’t be scared to live. Bring joy to those who come into your path.

Listen to others and help all those you can, expecting nothing in return. Make more friends and spend more time with them.

Make being happy a priority and don’t feel guilty about it!

Breathe; be aware of our breath.

Take at least five minutes in the morning and the evening to sit quietly and let our thoughts flow so that our lives can be anything we want – if we just take the time to meditate the future that is. www.marbellanowtv.com
