MURDER? The scene of the crime.
POLICE are probing the violent death of a restaurant manager.
The victim’s body was discovered when an employee turned up for work. Though isolated, the bar-restaurant in Rabasa, Petre lies on a popular hiking route.
Manager Fernando Millan Chocero, who lived in Elda and had been in charge of the restaurant for five years, suffered serious head wounds, probably inflicted by a blood-stained piece of rock found nearby, said sources close to the case.
Initial investigations suggest that Millan Chocero was attacked by one or more assailants when he went to open the restaurant at 6.30am.
His body was discovered at 8am by an employee who called the Emergency Services although the SAMU ambulance doctor could only certify Millan Chocero’s death.
Police have ruled out the possibility of a work-related accident or robbery, as the €2,000 he carried in his wallet was still there.
All the signs pointed to manslaughter or murder, they said.
