MARBELLA WILDFIRE: 19-year-old Russian man arrested

A YOUNG MAN has been arrested after the La Concha wildfire that destroyed 5.9 hectares of scrub and woodland between Ojen and Marbella.

The fire forced the closure of the MA-5300 road in both directions  for four hours.

The alarm was raised late on Saturday evening with more than 400 calls to the 112 emergency co-ordination centre.

More than 50 specialist firefighters and six aircraft from INFOCA brought the blaze under control on Sunday.

Police sources say the 19-year-old Russian national lit a bonfire after becoming lost during an excursion to the mountains.
