Southern Spain rocked by four minor earthquakes in 24 hours

SHAKEY GROUND: The strongest earthquake was felt in the village of Colmenar.

MALAGA province has experienced four small earthquakes in less than 24 hours.

On Monday, the villages of Campillos, Colmenar and Teba experienced a combined total of four small earthquakes throughout the day.

According to the National Geographic institute, the first quake with a magnitude of 1.5 on the Richter scale was felt in Campillos on Sunday night at around 9pm. The village then experienced a second, more intense quake with a magnitude of 2.6 at roughly 5.30pm the next day.

 A 2.3 magnitude quake was also recorded in Teba at 3.34pm but the strongest of them all was felt in Colmenar at around 1.12pm, where a quake with a magnitude of 3.5 hit the town.

The quakes largely went unnoticed as the epicentre was 56 kilometres deep and they didn’t cause any damage.
