March for Men in Axarquia

MEDITERRANEAN MARCH FOR MEN is organizing a charity walk to provide the opportunity for expats living in Spain to increase awareness about prostate cancer and to provide the opportunity for people to support the charity from their current base/location.

All across the UK the March for Men campaign was in full swing as September was prostate cancer awareness month. Although it is a UK based charity, this doesn’t mean the charity cannot be supported from abroad.

The Prostate Cancer UK charity provides a wealth of support to anyone who requests it, where-ever they are from, and provide short- and long-term benefits from the work they do both from a scientific perspective as well as a supportive perspective. There is an enormous amount of information available via their website https://prostatecanceruk.org/.

Almost everybody knows someone who has cancer and would love to be able to do something for them.

So put on your boots and join Sanne the Physio and Dr. Bernadette Veeger at Centro Mar y Salud, Paseo Maritimo 4, 29793 El Morche, at 10 am on 7th of October 2017.

There will be the opportunity to walk 3 km or 10 km.

Participants will set off from the clinic towards Lagos/Mezquitilla. The group walking 3km will turn around by the first picnic tables along the gravelled coastal path, and the 10km group will turn around as they reach Mezquitilla and the end of the gravelled coastal path. Refreshments will be available during the walk and at the return to base.

If you don’t wish to/can’t walk the route, you can sponsor someone doing the walk. A Just Giving page has been set up where donations can be made, (it is online, safe and the money goes directly to the charity), or you can pop in to the clinic and pick up sponsorship forms, or leave a donation.

The goal is to raise 500 Euros, so every little helps. For the online Just Giving option, visit https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/sannephysio.

There are 2 options here. You can either “Join the team…” or “Donate”. If you join the team you can share your own Just Giving page or the team page to your own friends and family, social media to really reach the maximum amount of people.

The “Donate” button takes you through to the very easy to follow page where you can donate anonymously or send a motivational message along with your donation. Any help will be much appreciated.

In order to calculate how many litres of refreshments etc. is needed, it would be appreciated if you could inform organisers no later than the September 29 regarding how many people/friends you intend to bring along to walk and if there are any special/mobility needs that they need to be made aware of.

You can either call 952532065, email info@centromarysalud.com, or let them know in person at the clinic.

After the walk, information on prostate cancer will be provided, and you will be able to fill in (or take home) an easy screening questionnaire which will highlight any prostate problems that may warrant further attention.

The Just Giving page can be found here.
