INTERNATIONAL brands Armani and Victoria’s Secret are about to make their Madrid retail debuts not in swanky stores on posh streets but in a new €200 million shopping centre.

The Plaza Rio 2 is a massive new undertaking from French real estate giant La Société Générale Inmobilière (LSGI) which has persuaded a large number of major brands to open in this shopping mall which sits on the banks of the Manzanares river flowing through Madrid.

Swedish Group H&M has taken a large area to promote their new range of products designed for the home and will be joined with such regular high streets names as Massimo Dutti and Zara Home from the Inditex Group.

Other shopping malls in the Madrid area are being renovated.
