COST DEL SNOW: Carvajal beach in Fuengirola
THE Costa del Sol has been hit by freak winter weather today as severe weather warnings remain in place across many parts of Spain.
One of the Costa’s most popular and busiest beaches was covered in a blanket of white, replacing the regular bronzed bodies and sun brollies.
Hail settled on the deserted seafront at the Carvajal beach in Fuengirola.
Spanish weather agency, Aemet, said that although it looked like snow it was, in fact, a layer of hail.
“Snowfall in the interior and low temperatures at sea level – it’s not the first time it’s happened. But it’s a lot of hail!”
Meanwhile, huge hailstones were filmed falling on the AP-7 at Calahonda creating lethal driving conditions for the toll road users.
