ROAD CLOSED: Guardia Civil officers on the A-367 from Ronda to Gaucin – closed between Atajate and the junction for Alpandeire

SEVERAL roads have been closed in Malaga province in southern Andalucia following significant snowfall today.

Highway teams are working to clear the A-397 Ronda to San Pedro road near Igualeja, the A-366 at the Puerto de las Abejas in El Burgo and the A-367 from Ronda to Gaucin – between Atajate and the junction for Alpandeire.

The 112 emergency services control centre has responded to more than 30 calls for assistance in less than two hours.

The areas particularly affected are the municipalities of Ronda, Parauta, Igualeja, Benahavis, Cuevas del Becerro and Alpandeire.

The Guardia Civil are closing access to some areas to allow snow-clearing teams unimpeded access.

Access to the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park has also been suspended because of heavy snowfall.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated an orange warning notice for snowfall across the Serrania de Ronda 11am until 6pm.

In addition, there are yellow alerts for heavy rain and hail in the Sol, Guadalhorce and Axarquía regions.
