THE Jeep Renegade may be a Fiat 500X under the skin, but it has certainly helped Jeep’s sales as enough buyers ‘get’ that Jeep Renegade is a proper little retro-inspired urban warrior, capable of doing all you need it to do, and stand out in a competitive marketplace too.
Almost four years on from its arrival in the UK in 2014, the Renegade has been given a slight makeover with a tinkered nose, updated interior, new wheels (16″-19″), improved safety and new petrol and diesel engines.
The new engines include a 1.0 litre with 118bhp and a 1.3 litre with 148bhp or 177bhp, as well as updated versions of the 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesels, with manual, DCT or nine-speed auto depending on engine choice.
Available in two versions with two or four-wheel drive, with Jeep Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low for 4WD, the Jeep Select Terrain comes with four modes for different surfaces and there’s safety stuff like Lane Departure and Speed Assist too.
The range starts with the Sport 1.0 GSE T3 FWD and goes up through Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk specs up to the top of the range Trailhawk 2.0 170 E6d ATX 4WD Low.
