INNOVATION organisation Christar International is preparing to host hundreds of American college students seeking to contribute to community transformation in the Malaga area.
In partnership with Liberty University, Christar will link skilled interns with companies and organisations in Malaga, as well as with opportunities to positively impact the local immigrant community through service projects.
Known as the G5 Spain Initiative, the partnership will enable several hundred college students to leverage their gifts and skills to make a positive impact in Malaga and the surrounding area.
The programme will kick off in January 2019 with experience trips that will give students a taste of Spanish culture and businesses.
Throughout the year increasing numbers of students will complete internships in their area of study, serving in roles in business, IT, sports, religion, education, the arts, entertainment and NGOs, as well as take courses at Malaga University.
In addition to their internships and study, all students will be involved in service projects among the growing refugee and immigrant population.
Participants in G5 Spain will be chosen for their capacity to bring transformation to the larger Malaga community, and will come from an institution passionate about service.
Liberty University students volunteer more than 500,000 hours per year. The school’s total enrollment exceeds 110,000, including more than 900 international students.
Christar International is excited to contribute to G5 Spain and eager to see the transformation that will result as interns seek to advance the good of the Malaga community.
Brent McHugh, director of Christar International, said: “The community has given a resounding welcome to this initiative, and I look forward to the lasting impact it will make.”
