THE two people trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building in Spain this morning (Wednesday) were British expats it has been revealed.
As reported earlier today on our sister news site the RTN, emergency services rushed to an address in Orihuela Costa, Costa Blanca after the partial collapse of a house trapped two people.
Emergency services needed to slice through iron bars to free one of the trapped men, before both British expats were rushed to Torrevieja University Hospital.
One of them, a local barman, is suffering from shock after the apartments almost crashed down on top of him.
The other is believed to be suffering from superficial cuts following the trauma.
Fifteen homes on the estate have been evacuated as large cracks appeared in the walls of neighbouring apartments following the incident.
The incident happened at around 8am this morning and reports have emerged that residents had heard strange creaking noises throughout yesterday.
Local Mayor Emilio Bascunana confirmed: “Fortunately there hasn’t been any loss of life or serious injuries.”
“Two people have been taken to hospital, one suffering from a panic attack and another with superficial wounds including scratches.”
