LOVE TO SING? New choir hits the right notes on the Costa del Sol

LOVE TO SING: On Spain's Costa del Sol

A GROUP of people who just love to sing have banded together to form an amateur, non-audition choir with professional aspirations on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

And now they are organising fundraising concerts for good causes including the firefighters in Estepona as a thank you for all the hard work they did during the summer fires.

Their next concert is on Friday, October 5 at the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre in the town and will feature a songbook of popular hits from the stage and screen.

Paula Jackson Smith said: “Our choir is open to people of any age, gender or nationality including permanent or part-time residents.

“Although we are Manilva-based, we welcome anyone who can attend our practice sessions.

“Primarily, our aim is enjoyment and to be part of a group in a great social setting at Ringo’s Bar, Pueblo Mexicana, San Luis de Sabinillas.

She added: “With dedication and the experienced direction of Shirley Helleur, our music director, we have achieved a professionalism, which has allowed us to undertake concert performances throughout the year, including our ever-popular Christmas Carol repertoire.
