STORM WARNING: Hurricane Leslie heading towards Madeira, Portugal and Spain

HURRICANE LESLIE is heading towards the Iberian peninsular possibly bringing with it ‘mountainous seas’, heavy rain and high winds.
The US National Hurricane Center in Miami said the Category 1 storm was about 565 miles (910 kilometres) southwest of Lisbon, Portugal, and about 200 miles (320 kilometres) northwest of Madeira and moving northeast at 36 mph (57 kph) with wind speeds of 80 mph (130 kph) and gusts of up to 186 km/h.
The storm is expected to pass north of Madeira and then approach the southwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula on Saturday before moving inland into Sunday.
Although the course isn’t totally predictable one scenario could see reaching the Gulf of Cádiz with winds up to force 10 (up to 100 km/h in Extremadura, Andalucia and the Strait area with heavy rain (up to 80 mm).
In another scenario, it could take a more southeasterly direction as a tropical storm with winds of up to force 10-11 and mountainous seas, entering the zone north of the Canary Islands on Monday as a post-tropical cyclone with winds up to force 8-9 and rough seas.
